She started her career from All India Radio and debuted in Fashionable Wife in 1938. Her career included more than 130 films and remained evergreen from the song Aye Meri Zohra Jabeen. She married Clifford Douglas and has a child. She gave her residence to a charitable foundation called Janseva. She died on 30 th April, 2012. Some of her works are Mera Naam Joker, Kal Ho Na Ho, Julie, DDLJ etc.
